Programming Note

All due props to Bode Miller, Shani Davis, Lindsay Vonn and the rest of Team USA on their surprisingly sturdy effort to distract people from NBC’s woes these last couple weeks, but their “Olympics” have had the unintended effect of shutting down SFT just as long.

And they’ve done it while the networks (that be) are riding a wave of shockingly strong scripted TV. You see, as much as I’d like to pretend that I have other hobbies, I regularly watch five network shows besides the two I review: The Office, Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, Lost, and ½ The Middle + ½ Modern Family. Meaning that no matter how many times NBC wants to air Mary Carillo comedy sketches poking offensive fun at Canadian culture, I’ve had something at least middlebrow to watch.

What have I gained from the experience? Well, ignoring the two young ABC comedies, each of the remaining shows is debatably the best on TV right now. But more than that they’ve all got storylines going on that are pretty debatable in their own right (some have even made the news).

Mostly as an experiment with a looser style (recapping plot is by far the hardest part of writing reviews), I thought I’d run down where I stand on a couple of these issues with foonoted editorial entries. Here are the big questions:

- How I Met Your Mother: Is this the show’s best season ever?
- Who Owns Chuck? Or How I Learned to Stop Being an Entitled and Sexist Fan (And Be Awesome Instead)
- Lost: WTF? (Just kidding... wacky fun) Darlton said a while back that Season 6 could be enjoyed even if you missed the last few seasons of the show: Has that held up so far?
- The Office: Do you like Andy and Erin? Can you be made to care?

Oh and I really enjoyed Shutter Island too so I might take a crack at why AO Scott was such a turd in his review.
